Trucking Along

Well, I broke my pattern for this novel and got about a thousand words written of a late-in-story section. And I was *so* going to do this in A-B-C order this time. Oh well, as they say, whatever works.

I was surprised to find out some things about a couple of characters today. One I thought was good is bad. And I finally got a picture of the personal nemesis of my heroine -- the whole dude, actually, as there was only sort of "the Dark Side" up to this point, with nobody but nameless henchmen. I think the bad-guys discussion on the forum birthed this one for me. [g] I also learned who is at the top of the food chain on the baddies' side.

All in all, a pretty productive day (night...morning...whatever, yeah, it's 4:26 in the morning; what an idiot I am!)

G'nite!

Accomplished one end scene, whole. :)

4 am, geesh! Whassamattayou?? (G)

Congratulations, and would this be Sebastien? It sounds lke things are really coming along. I must check out the bad-guys thread, I haven't really been in the Forum much of late. Can't imagine why that might be. (S)

Anyway, good work!

LOL Cindy, I know, I know!! I'm a natural night-owl, though, and have been off this week, so it was easy to do. Just have to pay the price when I go back to work. Shifting gears from late to early is a lot harder. {g}

And thanks. :) Surprisingly, it's *not* Sebastion, but...somebody else. {g} "Character X" really had me fooled. But somehow, given the way X started off in the story, it all works that X turns out bad.

(I'm only not telling you who it is 'cause I'm thinking I might ask you and Sara to read a little for me when I get to a certain point...not anywhere soon, but eventually...and I don't want to taint the read. If you're willing and available when the time comes. Plus, just on the off-chance anybody else on the planet is reading this...it'd be a spoiler for sure. :))

But, thinking about the way it happened...I think this is an example of those weird synchronicities that happen when you're writing sometimes. Kind of fits the idea of a story existing whole somewhere in the subconscious, before you write it.

OTOH, who cares how it got there as long as it works? :)

That's funny. (S) And I'd love to read for you, when you're there.

I confess, I had in mind to (someday) sidle up to you in some cyber-alley, twist the lapel of my trenchcoat ever so slightly and drawl, "Ya wanna read some chapters?"

I like the idea of a story existing already, because I'm getting tired of trying to grind this stuff out. I'm white-knuckling it, trying too hard, I think. Maybe. (G)

Dear Cindy,

Yay! Thank you for being a willing victim. {bg}

I'm cracking up at your imagery! :D Too funny! No need to sidle up to me, I'm the WYSIWYG Kid. (Though I guess you haven't actually *seen* me. And, technically, I think I lost entitlement to the "kid" part some years ago. {g}) No onion-like hidden layers to peel. :D With me, people can just come right out and ask in broad daylight - I don't bite or anything! (And I am *capable* of saying "no" politely if I feel the need.) But I'd be delighted to read for you any time!

Psst! I tagged you. *g*

I'd love to read for you.

What are you doing working so late??

Dear Sara,

Cool - I think! I've never been tagged online. Must run over to your site to investigate. {g}

And thank you for being willing to read for me! It's going to be a while yet, but it's comforting to know you didn't run away screaming at the mere suggestion. {g}

Re: the late hour...I'm just hardwired to function (and write, especially) best in the middle of the night. I can do it when I'm off work (as I was last week - Thanksgiving holiday) but when I go back to work I have to readjust to being a functional zombie at 8am. {g}
